Our Philosophy

Rooted in the essence of community, Phanmaggi derives its name from the Mandinka word for "humility." True communal harmony and cohesion require humility from everyone involved. Thriving communities are built on consensus, and consensus is fostered through humility. This guiding principle inspired the elders of Ceesay Kunda Kabilo to adopt Phanmaggi as a foundation for community-building. It remains the cornerstone of our non-profit, non-governmental organization, which is committed to creating sustainable projects that benefit generations to come.

Structure and Sustainability

Phanmaggi operates through three interconnected tiers:

- Members in Badibou Saaba
- Urban Gambia Members
- Diaspora Members (Europe and the Americas)

Membership dues and contributions from all tiers sustain the organization's activities. Through these funds, along with fundraising and pledge drives, Phanmaggi continues to implement small-scale, sustainable economic growth initiatives that uplift communities and foster long-term development.
